Beginner’s Guide to CBD: How to chose the right product
We know many people are very curious about CBD and eager to learn more. It can be quite overwhelming and difficult to decide which product to buy. This page is meant to help you around the key decide areas. If you are not sure what to buy and you want to hit the “easy button”… please check out our Best Sellers!
Marijuana vs Hemp.
CBD is found in both. Hemp is legal in all 50 states while Marijuana is only legal in some states. Most of the commercial CBD products on the market today (including ours) are derived from Hemp. Unless you have deeper knowledge on the topic, stay with a hemp-derived CBD product.
Full Spectrum or CBD Isolate.
The Hemp Plant contains over 100 cannabinoids as well as terpenes and flavonoids. Full Spectrum CBD products include not only CBD but also other cannabinoids such as CBC, CBN, CBG and CBDA… as well as THC (only trace amounts; < 0.3% if derived from Hemp). THC, of course, is the natural chemical compound that can make you feel high or intoxicated. Note, the minuscule amount of THC found in Hemp will not get you high or cause intoxicating effect.
Our KindUrth Full Spectrum products are hemp-derived and of the highest quality available. While the research is lacking on this topic many believe Full Spectrum is better because of the so called “entourage effect” of having the full range of cannabinoids.
CBD Isolate is 99% pure CBD and as such is THC Free. High quality CBD Isolate is very popular and is the best choice if you are at all concerned with consuming even trace amounts of THC. As an example, people who are subject to random drug tests have expressed concerns about even trace amounts of THC.
At KindUrth, we focus on quality, consistency and safety. We carry both THC-Free and Full Spectrum products which are labeled as such for your convenience.
More research is required to truly understand which is better. In the meantime, as long as the CBD product is high quality, we believe both Isolate and Full Spectrum are good choices.
What is the best method of consumption?
With such a wide variety of products on the market, making the right choice can be overwhelming… CBD oils, creams, capsules, gummies, vapes… what to choose? Here are some considerations to help you make that choice:
Rapid Relief vs. Long Lasting Effects. Many consumers prefer delivery methods such as vape or sublingual (under the tongue) tincture oil for faster relief and report using these methods for symptoms like sudden headaches or acute insomnia. With these delivery methods the CBD will enter your system faster.
For chronic pain or other lasting problems we find consumers may prefer capsules or gummies taken orally. These delivery methods have a longer onset time and typically last longer.
The reality is… all of these delivery methods should provide similar impact provided they contain the same amount and same quality of CBD. To some degree this is just a matter of preference and not the most important decision criteria. If you are still unsure, an easy choice is a high-quality sublingual CBD oil which will be relatively fast acting and long lasting.
Topicals work best for skin conditions, localized pain or inflammation. You can find a range of salves, lotions, creams, and other topical products on the market. Read the label and pay close attention to how much CBD is actually in the product container. Usually this is expressed as the total amount in the entire container and you need to do the math on how much is actually being used in each pump/dose. Our KindUrth Muscle Relief Cream is receiving rave reviews, has unique and proprietary properties and contains about 1.26 mg of high quality THC-free CBD per pump. We really like the creams such as ours that are nano amplified with extended time release. Nanotechnology enables deep penetration beneath the skin layers to more effectively treat achy muscles and joints.
How many Milligrams of CBD should I consume?
This is a tough one and probably one of the most important factors. Every individual responds differently to CBD and there are no strict guidelines at the present time. If you are new to CBD and interested in ingestible CBD products, we recommend experimenting with a lower dosage (~5 to 20 mg) and work your way up to a higher dosage until you experience the desired effect. Most CBD manufacturers provide usage instructions, a good place to start. As always, we recommend you talk with your physician or healthcare professional before consuming CBD.
With so many brands on the market, how do you know which Brand to trust? This will require research and we recommend reviewing the Manufacturer labels, websites, marketing materials carefully. Does the manufacturer look legitimate and serious about CBD? Does their label appear to contain all the important information you might find on a bottle of vitamins or supplements or it missing information… such as usage instructions, ingredients, CBD amount, etc. Reputable Manufacturers should conduct regular 3rd Party Lab testing and should make the Lab Report (aka Certificate of Analysis) available to the public. This is to validate purity and potency, presence or absence of THC, and absence of potentially harmful contaminants or heavy metals.
Other important considerations include:
- Is the Hemp grown in the USA where strict regulations govern the growing of hemp
- Organic Farming Practices reduce or eliminate exposure to herbicides, pesticides and harmful chemical fertilizers
- Safe extraction methods either Ethanol or Co2 extraction
Choosing the right CBD product can be overwhelming, but it does not have to be. Follow these steps and conduct your own research. We would value the opportunity to help guide you through the process. Please feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
